By default almost all the Web browsers are set to automatically accept the cookies.
The stipulation of 8 May 2014 of the Guarantor for the protection of personal data identified two macro-categories of cookies: technical and profiling.
This web site users or can use the following categories of technical cookies, or a combination of a number of these:

  • "session cookies” that are memorised on the user's computer for technical-functional requirements, for the transmission of session identifiers required for the safe and efficient exploration of the site. These are canceled at the end of the session (hence the name) with the closure of the browser;
  • “persistent cookies” that remain memorised on the hard disk of the computer until they expire or are canceled by the users/visitors. Through persistent cookies, the visitors that access the site (or other users that use the same computer) are automatically recognised at every visit. The following are also included in this category:
    - functional cookies that enable the identification of the navigation language or the registration of the on-line purchase shopping cart.
    - analytics cookies used to collect and analyse analytical information on access/visits to the Web site.

These two types of cookies (session or persistent) can be

  • “editor cookies” managed directly by the controller and/or the manager of the Web site
  • “third party” cookies controlled by managers who are external to the site visited by the user, these fall under the direct and exclusive management of the same manager.

The Google Analytics used to provide aggregate statistical information are examples of third-party cookies, these are used to evaluate the use of the Web site and the activities undertaken by the visitor, they memorise the information connected by the cookies on servers located in the United States or in other countries. Google has the right to transfer the information collected with its cookies to third parties, where this is required under the law or if these parties process information on its behalf. Google will not associate the IP address of the user with any other data it possesses to obtain a more detailed profile of the user. Further information on privacy and the use of cookies can be found directly on the sites of the relative managers.

In addition, the web site can also use profiling cookies, in combination with technical cookies. Profiling cookies are used to trace the user's navigation on the Web and create profiles with respect to their characteristics, such as habits, lifestyles, tastes, choices, preferences, etc. This type of cookie can be used to transmit advertising messages to the user's terminal in line with the preferences that the same user manifested during on-line navigation.
